About the Discover Scuba Course
Check in is at PRO DIVE Manly where you will complete paperwork and be fitted for gear hire. Onto the PRO DIVE Bus and off to Shelly Beach. Your day will start with a Safety Briefing and then into the water. Private Courses are also available. This Scuba Introductory Dive Course offers anyone the opportunity to try scuba diving. The whole experience is completed at Sydney's premier shore dive location Shelly Beach, Manly. At the beginning of the first dive you will be shown and asked to practice basic skills - these are the first skills all divers do on the Open water Course. Time to check out the marine life - you will then continue the dive under the supervision of your dive instructor.
What you can see
The site we dive is known as the Cabbage Tree Bay Marine Reserve. Whilst on the tour we will introduce you to our resident Blue Grouper 'George', Octopus, Giant Cuttlefish and if we are really lucky a Weedy Sea Dragon. Fiddler Rays and Wobbiegong Sharks, both harmless, are also residents.

Fitness to Dive

If you are under the age of 18, or 45 years and older you will need to get a Dive Medical regardless if you have any medical conditions or not.
Flying after diving
Please leave a minimum of 18 hours between the end of your dive and the time of your flight. 24 hours is recommended.
You will have use of all equipment whilst on course including
Snorkelling gear, wetsuit, buoyancy vest, regulator with alternate air source, dive computer, tanks, weights and belt are included.
What you need to bring
You need to bring sunscreen, swimmers and a towel, some lunch or pocket money to buy some lunch.
Minimum age to learn to dive or complete a Discover Scuba
The minimum age is 12 years. All students under 18 years of age will be required to provide signed parent or guardian consent form. This form is available at the Dive Centre.
Children under the age of 15 must be accompanied by a parent or adult over the age of 18.
