If you are an Open Water Diver, congratulations - you qualify to join our Advanced Course! It doesn’t matter whether you have minimal or lots of diving experience, the Advanced Course is designed with practical in mind.

Students complete 4 training dives on this course - 4 core dives which cover buoyancy, navigation and deep diving. Why not also include the option of our popular Nitrox course and learn to stay under for longer?

Itinerary


Day 1

  • 9:00 - 18:00 Daylight savings 10am-7pm
    • Course orientation + exam(s)
    • Ocean dives 1 & 2 

Day 2*

  • 7:45 - 13:00
    • Ocean dives 3 & 4
    • Dive logs, skill sign off, certification
  • 12:00 - 17:30
    • Ocean dives 3 & 4
    • Dive logs, skill sign off, certification


*One of the times above for day 2 will be advised by the instructor on day one. 

Requirements


Diving experience

  • Must have dived with 12 months
    • If you haven't dived in a while, please contact us for a scuba refresher before joining our advanced course!
  • Must be open water certified by a reconised agency

Online training

  • Learn the basics of advanced diver theory
  • Upload a photo (headshot) to your online training profile.

Fitness to Dive

What you need to bring

  • Sunscreen
  • Swimwear
  • Towel
  • Lunch
  • Seasickness medication is highly recommended (contact your GP if you are unsure whether you can take it)

Students under the age of 18 years

  • The minimum age is 12 years.
  • All students under 18 years of age will require parent/gardian consent

*The Dive Sites schedule are a guide of where we are planning to go and are in no way guaranteed. If we can't go to the divesite due conditions, then the cruise director will nominate the next best suitable spot. There is no refund if we do not make it to the planned dive sites.

Long Reef/The Apartments - Shark Dive

Depth:25m Rating:Blue

Located North of Sydney Harbour. The main site at Long Reef is located along a large rock wall and drops to 15 to 20 metres. There is a huge rock formation that has a large swim-through running from east to west called The Cathedral. The cathedral one of the sites highlights is formed by two massive boulders leaning against each other and is covered in sea tulips, sponges and bryozoans. The Cathedrals ceiling is always abundant with sealife. Once you reach the western side it is home to masses of fish; bullseyes, roughies, yellowtail, pike and tailor. There are plenty of starfish, large cuttlefish, wobbegongs and Port Jackson sharks in season. It's a site where we see Weedy Sea Dragon's. We find visibility gets much clearer during winter so keep this site in mind for a mid winter dive. Swimming north of the cathedral and following the wall you come across large gutters, frequented by  grey nurse sharks. Note - Watch for strong currents.

The best time for GNS encounters is November to May, allthough we see GNS Sharks at this site 12 months of the year
