Weekend itinerary

  1. BeforeHome study

    We send you the home study when your booking is confirmed. Finish it before the course starts.

  2. Saturday8:00 am – 5:30 pm

    Knowledge review, theory exam and ocean dives.

  3. Sunday8:00 am – 5:30 pm

    A whole series of rescue scenarios, putting what you’ve learned into practice.

Times are a guide. They change with the time of year and ocean conditions. Your instructor confirms where to meet each day and which sites the scenarios use.

Requirements

Medical conditionsSome conditions, like heart disease, asthma or epilepsy, may stop you diving. Tell us before you book if you have a medical condition.

Certification

  • Advanced certified. Bring your certification with you.

First aid

  • First Aid completed within the last 3 years.
  • Resuscitation (CPR) training within the last 12 months.
  • Oxygen Provider training within the last 12 months.
  • Our First Aid, CPR and Oxygen course covers all three.

Gear

  • A safety sausage (surface marker buoy).
  • Your own dive gear, or hire it. Gear hire isn’t included.

Age

  • Minimum age 15.

Medical

  • Fill in the dive medical questionnaire before the course.
  • If you answer "yes" to any question, or you are 60 or over, you need a doctor to sign you off as fit to dive. Send us that form when you book or at least 7 days before the course starts.

English

  • The online theory is available in several languages. All training with your instructor is in English, so you need to be comfortable in it. Other students can’t translate for you.

Dive training starts with the standard recreational diver medical questionnaire, the same wherever you train. What it involves, and when you need a doctor.

Frequently asked questions

What will I learn?

To assess a rescue situation, make a plan and act on it to reduce the risk to a distressed diver. You practise rescue breathing, CPR and accident prevention, and you learn to manage diving accidents and give first aid.

Do I need a first aid certificate first?

Yes. You need First Aid (within 3 years), CPR (within 12 months) and Oxygen Provider (within 12 months) before the course starts. Our First Aid, CPR and Oxygen course covers all three.

How often does the Rescue course run?

Every month, over a weekend.

What comes after Rescue?

Rescue is the prerequisite for professional training. The next step is the Divemaster course.

Is the certification recognised overseas?

Yes. Your certification is issued by International Scuba Certification and is recognised worldwide.
