First aid

Dive training starts with the standard recreational diver medical questionnaire, the same wherever you train. What it involves, and when you need a doctor.

Questions

Which course should I start with?

If you’ve never dived, start with Learn to dive. It’s your first course and certifies you to dive anywhere in the world. Already certified but out of practice? Book a refresher dive.

Do I need to be a strong swimmer?

You need to swim 200 metres without stopping, using any stroke (it isn’t timed), and tread water or float for 10 minutes. You do the test in the pool during the course.

Do I need a dive medical?

Every course starts with the standard recreational diver medical questionnaire. If you answer yes to any question, you need a doctor’s clearance before in-water training. What it involves.
