Silversonic is a modern luxury vessel specially designed for diving and snorkelling day trips on the Great Barrier Reef. Purpose-built dive and snorkel facilities include a semi-submerged aft platform for easy water access. Cruising at 30 knots with two comfortable levels of seating, this vessel is a passenger's dream for a once-in-a-lifetime Reef adventure.
Your Outer Great Barrier Reef adventure begins with an optional early morning transfer from your accommodation to the boat — from Port Douglas itself, or from Northern Beaches and Cairns properties. Once checked in, you'll board the luxury Silversonic catamaran, where tea, coffee and a focaccia bread breakfast are served until departure.
Once underway, detailed certified and introductory dive briefings are given. After a smooth but fast trip to the Outer Reef, you'll visit 3 sites on the Agincourt Ribbon Reef system and spend a leisurely 5 hours at play. The Agincourt Ribbon Reef system is made up of 19 dive sites, so you'll enjoy three different environments — and three different types of dives — in the one day.
Before each dive you'll receive a thorough dive briefing, and all dives on Silversonic are guided by professional staff to maximise your dive experience. Certified divers can enjoy up to 3 dives, and introductory divers can do a second dive.
On board, the crew will encourage you to relax and enjoy the comfort of Silversonic, with full bar facilities, fresh water showers, air conditioning and a delicious hot and cold lunch for hungry adventurers. There's morning and afternoon tea as well, and the spacious deck areas are ideal for sharing a cold drink and tales of your adventure. By 3pm, Silversonic cruises back towards Port Douglas in time for a 4:30pm arrival.
Snorkellers joining this itinerary are well looked after. Adventure snorkellers can explore spectacular coral formations and underwater gardens awash with vibrantly coloured marine creatures. Gear hire for snorkellers includes mask, fins and snorkel, and pool noodles and flotation devices are available in the water. Silversonic's professional Reef guide will show you around, pointing out the coral and marine life during your interactive expedition over shallow reef formations. Up to 2 Discover Scuba Dives are available for snorkellers.
Silversonic holds one of the few permits issued by the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority that allows our guests to swim with dwarf minke whales if encountered — a truly unforgettable experience!
You will need to be in Cairns or Port Douglas the night before departure.
Email info@prodive.com up to 48 hours prior to departure to advise your hotel accommodation, and we will organise a transfer for you. There is an additional charge.
Please take time to review the Waiver Release and Fit to Dive requirements.
We recommend you complete a dive medical — if required — before you arrive in Cairns.
Don't forget to bring your dive certification card — it must be presented at check-in.
You will need to bring your own towel. If you're not sure of your sea legs, we strongly recommend taking motion sickness tablets on the trip. Kwells and Travel Calm are suitable to use when diving.
There is a licensed bar aboard this vessel.
