About our Openwater Course
Our Week Day Open Water Course is completed over three consecutive days. Starting Every Monday and Wednesday*,the Openwater scuba diving course is a combination of classroom based theory, pool and open ocean dives. You will be trained to dive to a depth of 18 metres and issued with your Openwater Scuba Diver certification which is recognised worldwide.
Prior to starting the course you will need to complete your theory online which will take approximately 3-4 hours to complete. You will be required to complete a theory exam. It is also a requirement that you are able to swim 200 metres (without stopping) and tread water for 10 minutes. You may use any technique to complete this swim and there is no time limit. The practical skills of diving are then covered and practiced in the comfort of the pool.
To further your skills there are 4 open water training dives. During these ocean dives, you will repeat some of the skills learned in the pool plus additional practical skills to ensure that you are competent Open Water scuba diver. When you have successfully completed all theory and practical sessions, your instructor will sign your log book and student record file. You will then become a certified Scuba Diver. Your certification will be recognised world wide.
You must be considered fit to dive to complete an Openwater Course and may require a dive medical. Click here to fill out our online medical form to determine if you are Fit to Dive or if you require a Dive Medical.

Please be aware that due to the location of the pool and the dive sites, it will not be possible to take public transport.

Pro Dive Coogee is able to issue:
Statements of Attainment for the following nationally recognised Training Units of Competency under the Outdoor Recreation Industry Recreation Training Package (SR003) on all our Openwater courses by completing these additional requirements
SROODR002A Plan outdoor recreation activities
SROODR002B Plan for minimal environmental impact.
A small additional fee applies.

Transport Requirements
The pool and dive sites are located off site, you will need to transport yourself between them. There are approximately 5 trips during your open water course. We have limited availability on our bus (8 seats) and seats are allocated on a first come first serve basis.
Because of the location of the dive sites, you will NOT be able to catch public transport. If you have your own vehicle you are welcome to drive yourself. If you do not have a vehicle, our Club Membership is your cheapest option!

PLEASE NOTE: Due to the location and schedule of the course you will not have access to public transport.
Your ELearning must be completed online prior to the course commencement. Please allow approximately 3-4 hours to complete ELearning.
