Requirements

Medical conditionsSome conditions, like heart disease, asthma or epilepsy, may stop you diving. Tell us before you book if you have a medical condition.

Certification

  • Open Water or higher, from any internationally recognised training agency.
  • Bring proof of certification.

Refresher Dive: recent experience

  • Dived in the last 5 years: Open Water certification is enough.
  • Not dived for 6 to 8 years: at least 8 logged dives.
  • Not dived for 8 to 10 years: at least 10 logged dives.
  • Not dived for 10 to 15 years: at least 20 logged dives.
  • Not dived for 15 years or more, or not since you certified: book the Refresher Course instead.

Medical

Dive training starts with the standard recreational diver medical questionnaire, the same wherever you train. What it involves, and when you need a doctor.

Frequently asked questions

Which refresher do I need?

If it’s been 15 years or more, or you haven’t dived since you certified, book the Refresher Course: a skills session in the pool, then 2 ocean dives. Otherwise the Refresher Dive may suit you, depending on how many dives you have logged (see Requirements).

Why do a refresher before a trip?

Dive operators like to see a recent dive in your logbook, because it shows you’re ready to go. A refresher is also a good way to prepare for your next course.

Is gear included?

Yes. Full scuba gear hire is included in both options.

What if conditions are bad on the day?

We may change the dive site if sea or weather conditions make the planned site unsafe.
