What is a Sydney boat dive with Pro Dive?
A Sydney boat dive is two guided dives at two different sites from Sea Life V, a 43-foot Steber dive boat carrying up to 20 divers. Morning trips leave Rose Bay at 8:15 am and Manly Yacht Club at 7:45 am; afternoon trips leave at 12:30 pm and 1:00 pm. Bring your own gear and the tank and weights are free, or choose the all-gear option and full hire is fitted on board. Experienced divers with their own gear can book an unguided buddy dive. Every diver needs at least an Open Water certification from a recognised agency, with proof shown before boarding, and recent diving experience. Guides take up to six divers each if you have fewer than 20 dives, and up to eight above that. Light refreshments are served between dives, and nitrox fills are $20 for certified nitrox divers. Arrive 15 minutes before departure.
Where we leave from
Make your own way to the departure point and be there 15 minutes before departure. Parking is hard at busy times, so allow 30–40 minutes. If you miss the boat because of traffic or parking, you forfeit your dives.
- Rose Bay Ferry WharfMorning trips depart 8:15 am; afternoon trips 12:30 pm. We leave from the wharf at the top of the boat ramp in Lyne Park, not the new ferry wharf.Get directions

Requirements
Warm-water divers
- If you’ve mostly dived in warm tropical water with limited experience, a guided shore dive is a better place to start: Sydney’s thicker wetsuits change your weighting. Not sure? Get in touch.
Independent buddy dive
- As a buddy team, one of you must have 40 or more dives and have dived in Sydney in the last 12 months.
- Bring all your own gear, including tanks and weights. There’s no gear option and no in-water guide.

Frequently asked questions
Can a non-diver come along?
Yes, at our lowest rate. They ride with the boat crew, but our dive sites aren't suitable for snorkelling.
Do I need to pick up hire gear before the dive?
No. All the scuba equipment you need is on board if you choose the all-gear option.
Can I dive on nitrox?
Yes, if you’re nitrox certified. Bring proof of your certification when you board. Nitrox fills cost $20.
Can I bring a rebreather?
Yes, rebreathers are welcome on Sea Life V. A 1-hour dive time limit applies so everyone is back on the boat together.
Can I use DIN fittings?
Yes. The tank valves take DIN. Add a comment to your booking so we can have your tanks ready.
