What to look for
A patterned, flattened shark lying still on rock or sand, often under a ledge or tucked beside a boulder. Look for the tassel-like flaps around the head: they break up the outline so well that you can be right beside one without seeing it.
Diving with them
Wobbegongs are calm unless disturbed, but they can bite if they’re trodden on, touched or cornered. Watch where you put your hands and fins, especially near ledges, and give them room.
