About the Cruise

Your Great Barrier Reef adventure will begin with an early morning transfer from your accommodation to the boat. You are on your first dive in just under 3hrs. There are 16 dives sites to dive over 4 different reefs, all exclusive to Pro Dive. Scubapro will move between dive sites during your stay on the reef and you will do as many as 11 dives during this trip. Before each dive you will be given a thorough dive briefing and although we do not offer in water guided dives we have professional dive supervisors providing deck watch at all times.

Our vessels are 25 metres (80 feet) in length, centrally air-conditioned, light and airy. There are 2 large decks, one for scuba diving and snorkel gear and one strictly for sun tanning and relaxing. These vessels are the only purpose built outer reef dive liveaboards operating in the area. There are a total of 16 Cabins which sleep a maximum of two per cabin and a bathroom for every two cabins. Dinner, the menu changes each trip, however it will be wholesome, hot and of course lots of it. Dessert is served after the night dive. Please advise if you are a vegetarian and we will do our best to make sure we cater for you. Single travellers are accommodated in the twin berth cabins with another diver.

Snorkellers joining this itineray are well looked after. Gear hire for snorkellers includes wetsuit, mask, fins and snorkel. When in the water you will have the use of pool noodles and flotation devices and supervised by Pro Dive's  professional Dive Deck.  Snorkellers can also try scuba diving whilst out on the reef. The Discover Scuba Dive is a professional programme which allows you to try diving without being a qualified scuba diver. During this cruise, snorkellers will have the opportunity to do several of these dives, there are minimum requirements to participate.

How safe is diving the Great Barrier Reef?

The Queensland dive industry has the best safety statistics of any diving destination worldwide. Dive operators are required to comply with strict government workplace health and safety standards.

What if I am travelling alone? Who will I dive with?

We will arrange a dive buddy for you. Before every dive, the dive supervisor conducts a detailed site briefing.

Dive Training

I've lost my certification card or travelling and left my card at home?

Lost your card and need a replacement or need immediate verification to be able to dive or book onto a specific dive course, this information should assist you.

Click here to learn more about Card Replacement or Vertification

Diving

What depths will I be diving to?

The Great Barrier Reef is not a deep dive destination. Depths in our dive sites range from 10-25 metres (30-80 feet), with the best diving generally occurring between 10 and 15 metres (30-50 feet). This means there are some amazing sites that stay shallow enough for all certified divers to enjoy, regardless of how advanced your diving certifications may be.

Do you have in-water dive Guides?

Individual guided dives are not typical in the region. Divers of all levels can easily navigate the reefs we visit. Before each dive, the dive supervisor provides a thorough briefing to help with navigation and highlight interesting spots. For unfamiliar or rusty divers, we offer an orientation dive with an instructor for the first dive of the trip to familiarize them with Great Barrier Reef diving. First-time night divers receive guidance for the first night dive, but all other dives are buddy dives without a guide.

If you have not dived for sometime, then we recommend doing a 2 hour Pool Refresher prior to the trp to get back up to speed. Details can be found here
