Unexpected underwater surprises were the order of today.  Magic Point began with a waterbed of gold and silver fish spread out below us.  Rust coloured kelp merged into golden Pomfrets, the latter swaying in tune with the kelp underneath.  As we slipped over an underwater cliff to a terrace below, so did the overflow of Pomfrets.  Blue water then turned to silver with schools of Yellow Tail Scad everywhere we looked.  A large school of Old Wives put on an impressive display with other highlights being a large Eastern Blue Devil fish, Wobbegongs, and much more besides.

Our second dive at Macquarie Lighthouse, was brilliant as it was unexpected.  More than half an hour with affectionate seals.  Their public display of love (I'm neither exaggerating nor joking) was like watching a sort of slow motion romantic film.  At one point two seals spiralled slowly to the surface, all the time kissing.  Not long afterwards  one seal chased the tail of another, with the seal being chased reciprocating by trying to grab the first seal's tail.  The cavorting and displays of love seemed inexhaustible and was still going on when we eventually had to leave.  We were thrilled to see this amazing spectacle.  At another point, two of my divers were looking up at some seals and I had to tell them to look to either side of them where two seals were by their very side!  More than half a dozen seals had joined us.  Half an hour with the seals did not leave a great deal of time to explore this site, but we did manage to study a part of it.  Its topography as well as variety and quantity of sea life confirms it as one of the best dive sites in Sydney!
