PRO DIVE teams up with Planet Shark!!!

PRO DIVE has been fortunate enough to get a FREE look into the Planet Shark exhibition in the Australian National Maritime Museum located in Darling Harbour. The tour will take place on Saturday, March 6th at 11:00am and will be led by Planet Shark?s curator, Steven.  There are thirty spots available to anyone who would like to join.

Now for a look into Planet Shark?s mission?

? Sharks have been predators for more than 450 million years in our oceans making them among the most successful species on earth. Their reign has been critical to maintaining the health of our ocean ecosystem.

Today there are more than 350 species of sharks swimming in our oceans but for the first time they are under threat. In the last 50 years humankind have driven some sharks to the brink of extinction.

Planet Shark is a journey into the world of the shark ? one of the most misunderstood animals on earth. Visitors are guided through the murky myths and fascinating facts that have surrounded sharks for centuries. Full-scale specimen models, fossils, real teeth and jaws, original items from the 1975 movie Jaws and interviews with shark attack survivors are all part of the story of sharks and their significance in our world. You?ll gain a new level of respect for the oldest and most effective ocean predator.?

Exhibition information is available at www.planetshark.org

Anyone who is a diver or is passionate about the ocean should strongly consider taking part in this event. You will not find a better opportunity to learn about these magnificent creatures that command so much awe and respect from us. If we educate ourselves about sharks we will then be able to pass this knowledge on. Working together we can help change the negative perception that surrounds these aquatic wonders.
