Requirements
Certification
- Open Water certified with any recognised training agency.
- Dived in the last 12 months. If not, book a Refresher Dive before the course.
Age
- Minimum age 12.
- Under-18s need a parent or guardian's consent at the start of the course.
Medical
- Complete the dive medical questionnaire.
- A "yes" to any question, or being 60 or over, means you need a doctor to confirm you're fit to dive, at least 7 days before you start.
English
- The online theory is available in several languages. All training with your instructor is in English, so you need to be comfortable in it. Other students can't translate for you.
Dive training starts with the standard recreational diver medical questionnaire, the same wherever you train. What it involves, and when you need a doctor.
Frequently asked questions
Can I do the Advanced course straight after Open Water?
Yes. Any certified Open Water diver can join, whether you have a handful of dives or many. You need to have dived in the last 12 months; if not, do a Refresher Dive first.
How deep will I be certified to dive?
To 30 metres, ten metres deeper than Open Water.
Is there a lot of theory?
No. The course is practical. There is one online module and a multiple-choice exam, about 2–3 hours in total, done before day one.
Can I add Nitrox?
Yes. You can add Nitrox certification as an upgrade when you book. See the Nitrox course for what it covers.
How old do I need to be?
12 or older. Under-18s need a parent or guardian's consent at the start of the course.
What happens if the ocean is too rough?
If we cancel for unsafe conditions, you can move to another date within 12 months. If the new course costs more, you pay the difference.
