Overview of Our Sydney Openwater Scuba Course
The Openwater scuba diving course offered in Sydney provides a unique combination of online theoretical learning and practical training in both a safe pool environment and the vast open ocean. This course is meticulously crafted to train you in scuba diving up to a depth of 18 meters, leading to the internationally recognized Openwater Scuba Diver certification.
The course begins with an engaging 3-4 hours of online theoretical study, followed by a comprehensive theoretical exam. A compulsory swimming proficiency test is also part of the curriculum, which includes a 200-meter swim and a 10-minute session of treading water, with no restrictions on the time taken or the swimming style used. The foundational practical diving skills are initially developed in a dedicated pool within Sydney.
As the course progresses, it includes four extensive open water dives in the scenic waters surrounding Sydney. These practical diving sessions are designed to not only solidify the skills learned in the pool but also to introduce and master advanced diving techniques. This ensures your development into a skilled and competent Open Water scuba diver. Upon successful completion of all theoretical and practical parts of the course, your instructor will formally certify you as a Scuba Diver, a qualification that holds international acclaim.
Participants must be physically fit for diving to enroll in this Openwater Course in Sydney, and a medical examination related to diving may be required to ensure safety and readiness

Matt is an outstanding instructor: patient, calm, and professional, even when faced with delays. He leads with a relaxed confidence that makes following and learning from him natural and effective. I significantly benefited from the well-designed course and Matt’s clear, natural teaching style. He’s a major asset to Pro Dive. If possible, I’d give him more than the top rating! Thanks, Matt, for an excellent learning experience. by Ashley Morris - 06-Mar-2024
