Scuba Diving Palau

Palau, a paradise of fabulous drop-offs, blue holes, breathtaking reeds, crystal caves, and World War II wrecks, has something to offer every level of diver.

One of the most notable dive sites worldwide due to the abundance of marine life and rapid currents is Blue Corner. Large schools of fish and many large pelagic's such as jacks, barracuda, napoleon wrasse, manta rays and gray reef sharks frequent the area. Ngemelis Wall (aka "Big Drop- Off") is one of the finest wall dives in the Pacific. One can drift past giant gorgonian fans, brilliant rainbow coloured sponges, soft corals, coral whips and anemones. Average water temp is 25 -30 meters and visability is 12-46 meters.
 
If you are interested in viewing gray reef sharks, manta rays, dog tooth tuna and blue marlin the New Drop Off is the site to drop in on. This vertical wall is located halfway between Blue Corner and Bgemelis Wall. German Channel is well- known for regular sightings of manta rays. Divers can observe these elegant creatures glide into cleaning stations in habited by tiny cleaner wrasse. Gray reef sharks frequent the area for the same purpose. Another exceptional dive that can only be experienced in Palau is Siases Tunnell, an enormous cavern with the interior covered with soft and hard corals, black coral trees and enormous gorgonian fans. Whitetip reef sharks can often be found on the sandy base of the cavern taking a snooze. Great for the first cave diving adventure, Chandelier Cave consists of a series of distinct chambers filled with ancient crystalline stalactites and magnificently coloured flowstones.

Not to be missed are the inland, brackish lakes that are habitat to two species of stingless jellyfish. Most of the dive operators offer excursions to one of the lakes to snorkel with these harmless invertebrates.
