Flynn Reef dive site, Outer reef, Cairns

The dive
The liveaboards use moorings at several well-known sites on Flynn Reef, including Tracey’s Bommie, Gordon’s Mooring, Tennis Court and Coral Gardens. Depths run from 5 to 30 metres.
Across the 3-day trips, the sites range from 10 to 25 metres and the best diving is usually between 10 and 15 metres.
Conditions and tips
- Currents: usually mild.
- Visibility: 15 to 20 metres.
- Guiding: dives aren’t guided. The dive supervisor gives a full briefing before every dive.
- Rusty? If you haven’t dived in a while, do your first dive as an orientation dive with an instructor.
The skipper changes the order of sites to suit the weather, tides and currents, so we can’t promise which reef you’ll be on each day.
How to dive Flynn Reef
You dive Flynn Reef on the 3 day / 2 night liveaboard, with up to 11 dives including 2 night dives. Snorkellers travel on the same boat and snorkel at every site. You can also do your Advanced course on the same trip, or dive Flynn Reef on the Silverswift reef day trip.
