Take care on the rock shelf
Take care climbing down the narrow track. At the bottom, be very careful on the rock shelf: it’s covered in blackish slime and is very slippery, especially when wet. If you don’t take care, you will slip over.
The dive
Swim straight out from the entry and you drop to around 22 metres. There are several bommies here, and if you look carefully you may spot a seahorse or two. As you carry on, the depth decreases to around 10 to 12 metres. Typical visibility is about 7 metres.
The Leap is done as a drift dive. Getting out again at the entry is possible but can be very tricky, so it’s not the preferred way.
Getting there, and out
The site is inside Kamay Botany Bay National Park at Kurnell. Drive past the visitor centre turn-off and continue up the hill to the gravel car park on the right, past the car park for The Steps.
Exiting at The Steps is usually easiest. Get your gear together and suit up first, then move your car down to The Steps car park. That saves climbing back up and walking up the road in full gear.
