The dive
Once you’re in, head north-east along the wall. You’ll find several swim-throughs and good overhangs. Swim further west and you reach a small reef.
Octopus, cuttlefish and seahorses live around the reef and the wall, along with plenty of other fish. The maximum depth is about 8 metres, so you have plenty of time to look closely. That shallow profile also makes it a comfortable first dive after your course.
Getting in and out
You walk in from the beach and come out the same way.
Conditions and tips
Lots of boats use this part of the harbour, and they may not know divers are below. Always look up and lead with a hand as you ascend. Typical visibility is about 6 metres.
Camp Cove is one of the sites for our guided shore dives in Sydney. We choose the site on the day, with the conditions in mind.
