The dive
Freshwater has wonderful reef structure and plenty of typical Sydney marine life. For advanced divers, two large reef structures lie east of the point, reaching a maximum of 20 m.
Of all the shore sites we dive, Freshwater is the one that most consistently gives the best shore diving in Sydney.
Through the year
- Summer: Sydney’s biggest population of southern eagle rays.
- Autumn: giant cuttlefish.
- Spring: Port Jackson sharks.
Getting in and out
See our guided shore dives for how guided dives run.
Conditions and tips
The deeper reefs east of the point are for advanced divers. Plan your air so you have plenty left for the swim back to shore.
