Inspect and fill SCUBA cylinders

PREREQUISITES

ELEMENTS & PERFORMANCE CRITERIA 

1.0 Visually inspect SCUBA cylinders.
1.1 Visually inspect cylinders prior to filling, according to organisational safety procedures and manufacturers' specifications.
1.2 Identify any non-compliant cylinders, tag and isolate from use according to organisational procedures
1.3 Remove cylinder boot and mesh, visually inspect exterior of cylinders for dents, gouges and corrosion.
2.0 Fill SCUBA cylinders.
2.1 Operate high pressure compressor according organisational safety procedures and manufacturers' specifications.
2.2 Fill cylinders with air to correct capacity and pressure.
2.3 Refit valve and clean and dry areas.
2.4 Complete leak testing and documentation according to organisational requirements.
2.5 Handle, store and restrain cylinders according to organisational safety procedures.
2.6 Test organisation’s air purity regularly to ensure it meets standards.

Reading skills to: interpret complex and sometimes unfamiliar documents which can include organisational work health and safety procedures and templates, and manufacturers’ specifications.

Numeracy skills to: interpret, calculate and document numerical data involving pressures and percentages.

Planning and organising skills to: manage own timing and productivity to complete inspections and fills within organisational service times.

LANGUAGE

Applicants from a country where English is not the first language must demonstrate proficiency in English in one of the following ways:

• Provide documentary evidence that secondary schooling was conducted in an English medium, and evidence of a satisfactory pass in English in a British O-level examination or local equivalent.
• Obtain an overall IELTS score of 5.0 or better with no individual band score less than 5.0

Cancellations, transfers or non-attendance

1. If you cancel your course, on or within 14 days of the start date, no refund will be given.
2. If you cancel a course with more than 14 days notice, a refund will be offered, less $100
3. If you fail to attend your course, no refund will be given; rebooking will be at full cost.
4. You may transfer your course to a new date once, free of charge, with more than 14 days notice.
5. Transfers made between 24hrs and 14 days of the start date will incur a $100 fee. If the new course is of a higher value than the original booking, the difference must also be paid. No exceptions.
6. Any cancellations made within 24hrs of your course start time will result in forfeit of the course and rebooking will be at full cost.
7. If an emergency medical condition manifests within 24hrs of your course start time, proof must be provided in order to transfer your course at the reduced rate of $100.00.
8. If a medical condition manifests outside of 24hrs and temporarily prevents you from completing the course, the above conditions apply.
9. If a medical condition manifests outside of 24hrs and permanently prevents you from completing the course, the above conditions apply.
10. You may transfer a course to a friend or family member at least 24hrs before the start time for a $100 rebooking fee.
11. If you fail to complete the course during the scheduled time, a fee of $100 is payable to complete the course at a later date.
12. All fees are per person

Course requirements

1. Failure to adhere to all of the pre-course requirements found on the course overview page (including completion of any online training prior to start date) will result in cancellation of the course. No refund will be given, and rebooking will be at full cost.
2. All courses must be complete within 90 days of the original start date.

Age

1. Our standard courses are for 15yrs+
2. Under 18's must have a parental waiver signed by parent/guardian on day one of the course.
