I had deliberately booked the Bare Island dive to go somewhere new however, when I turned up at PRO DIVE Coogee the staff informed me that they had accidentally scheduled the shore dive back at Gordon’s bay despite the conditions being fine for Bare Island as per their booking schedule. Thanks to Raphael and Daniel and other instructors. They are so kind and professional. But feel so sorry to Raph that my tank hit him on the way to shore. We did a shore dive in Bare Island. The water was a bit murky, the conditions weren't great. The first dive went fine and we really enjoyed it. For the second dive the divemaster decided to feed some gropers by cutting open some sea urchins. He did this for a few minutes and all of us were waiting to move on. He was really "wrestling" or hugging the groper whereas we've been taught to leave the marine life alone. Because we were all waiting on top of each other in a small space, all the sand got kicked up and it was very hard to find each other. After a little while we noticed the dive master had disappeared. All 6 divers were together, but the divemaster had moved on without anyone noticing. When we got to the surface he popped up about 25 meters away from us. It was a pity that our dive got cut short because of that and the divemaster seemed a bit dismissive about it. We went under for another 5 minutes after that, but some of us were already almost through their tanks. We thought it was a poor experience. by Robin Baars - 04-Jan-2020

Rafael was our guide for two great dives. He was very knowledgeable about the area we dive and pointed out some of the marine life. He was patient during our surface interval as my wife became ill and ultimately decided not to join the second dive. Lindsay, our guide was fantastic. She was calm, composed and highly equipped to guide us and did a great job explaining every part of the dive before we started. Due to an incident with another couple, the first dive went for double the time. As a results, I became hypothermic and was unable to complete the second dive.. which is very unfortunate. The overall arrangement of the shore dive was poor. gears were poor. 2 BCD out of a group of 8 had malfunction. the guide was not great, or inexperienced. There were big waves when entering the ROCKS with full of shells. This was dangerous and not everyone could handle it. One became exhausted and then after swimming for a long distance to the dive spot, he had to turn back. The guide took a long time to decide whether he should take him back to shore. This wasted everyone's time. He also didn't make clear instructions who to buddy with who, and that caused extreme confusion. And the buddies did lose each other.
