About the Cruise
Imagine yourself on a spectacular flying start to Lizard Island. On the way you will have a birds-eye view of the Great Barrier Reef. Half of your 150 mile flight is at a very low 180 metres (600ft) above the sites you will dive along the Great Barrier Reefs continental shelf. A truly spectacular beginning to your expedition with guaranteed access to restricted dive sites on the Ribbon Reef. This 55 mile chain of reefs from Lizard Island to Cooktown is the most prized dive region of Australia’s Great Barrier Reef. This is where you can see more of the Great Barrier Reef’s 1,500 fish and 400 coral species than elsewhere. The currents that channel between the ribbon reefs attract large fish populations. One of the Great Barrier Reefs most amazing phenomenons awaits at the Cod Hole. Swim with incredibly inquisitive ‘small diver size’ potato cod. Tidal currents ensure the coral growth here is very diverse. The Cod Hole’s Shark Alley is a great place to see sleeping white tips in the sand and the occasional grey reef shark.

Spoilsport is Australia’s most awarded liveaboard dive boat. Custom built to provide superb dive and guest facilities, Spoilsport has a twin hull design which maximises stability and passenger comfort in all conditions. Measuring 30m in length, Spoilsport has a dedicated crew of 11 people including the dive team, host/ess, skipper and chef. This is a Fly and Dive Trip with the cruise starting with a scenic flight to Lizard Island and finishing in Cairns - the flight is included in the trip cost. As it is a low-level flight you will have a birds-eye view of the Great Barrier Reef. Once onboard novice divers are offered complimentary orientation dives to enhance skills, experienced divers are given ample freedom to do their own thing. Nitrox Diving is encouraged.
