Overview

At Scuba Safari the Open water Beginners Dive Course will train you to be a qualified Open Water Scuba Diver and the SSI Open water Diver certification,
you will achieve on completion of the course is internationally recognised.
This very popular Weekend Part Time Course starts with Orientation and BBQ every Thursday evening and completed over 2 consecutive weekends.
On the Second Weekend, we are now completing all the Ocean Training Dives doing 2 Day Trips , with 2 training dives each day
You can look forward to the graduation night on the Thursday after you finish your course.

Two Days of Training Dives |

Before the first day of the course you will be required to have done the home study component of the course (see itinerary) and completed and pass the Australian Standards Dive Medical AS4005.1
Inclusions

Dive Theory classroom sessions - Practical pool training
- Openwater Training Dives completed over 2 full days - Diving Cook Island Marine Sanctuary
Return transport from Milton to the Gold Coast, - Use of all scuba equipment - which is wetsuit, buoyancy vest (BCD), regulator with dive computer, tanks and weights (not including mask, fins, snorkel - students are required to own personal snorkelling equipment).
- Loan of SSI DVD (deposit of $40.00 required- refunded on return of the DVD)
You will be able to collect your SSI Materials to do the home study before the course starts from Scuba Safaris
Exclusions
- 2 passport photos
- Australian Dive Medical AS4005.1 This must be complete at least 7 days prior to your course.
- Safety sausage and signal whistle (regulation by Queensland Work Place Health & Safety, that all divers must have one).
- Divers Knife (recommendation by Queensland Work Place Health & Safety, that all divers have one).
- Mask, fins, wetsuit boots & snorkel (Students required to provide/purchase their own M/F/S. For hygiene reasons Queensland Workplace Health and Safety recommend purchasing your own.)
Itinerary
Thursday Evening: 6.00pm to 9.00pm
Orientation and BBQ tonight
First Weekend of the Course
Day One - 8.00am start time at Scuba Safaris.
In the morning you will complete Theory and in the afternoon the Confined water training modules are conducted in a heated training pool.
Day Two - 8.00am start time at Milton and you will finish the theory portion of the course with multilple choice exam and in the afternoon you will complete the final confined water modules in our pool. Bring your swimmers and Towel and bottle of water
Second Weekend of the Course - complete the 4 Ocean training Dives Off Cook Island Marine Sanctuary. Diving each day from fast professional Dive Boat
Day Three: Early Morning board the Scuba Safaris Bus, travel to Gold Coast. 2 dives today. Return to Brisbane by 5.00pm
Day Four: Early morning board the Scuba Safaris Bus, travel to the Gold Coast - Day Trip out to Cook Island Marine Sanctuary to complete Dives 3 & 4 of the Openwater Course. Return to Milton by 5.00pm
Graduation and paperwork will take place the following Thursday Evening kicking off at 6pm.

Terms and Conditions
CANCELLATION
- Cancellation or transfer outside of eight days of your commencement date will incur a A$50 administration fee.
- Cancellation or a transfer of course starting dates within the final seven days prior to starting will incur a A$100 fee.
- No refunds or transfers are possible once the course has commenced.
- Cancellations or withdrawals mid-course are not eligible for a full or partial refund.
- If you fail to arrange your medical until the final week prior to your course start date, and fail the medical, a A$100 cancellation fee will apply.
REQUIREMENTS
- Students must adhere to all Queensland WH&S requirements including carrying a safety sausage, whistle and dive knife whilst diving in the ocean.
- Hold a current AS4005.1 Dive Medical (list of registered Doctors in Brisbane is available from either store).
- Students must have completed the home study component of the course PRIOR to the first day.
- Be able to swim at least 200 mtrs and tread water for 10 minutes.
- Provide own personal items- mask, fins, booties & snorkel
